Every morning I MUST have oatmeal or else I become very miserable, very quickly. This has been the case since childhood. So you can imagine I have plenty of recipes up my sleeve for the perfect bowl. I'll have you saying please sir may I have some more?
The oats
This tip will change everything. Just boil some water in the kettle, pour a cup of oats (I used either rolled or steel cut, neither is wrong in my mind) into a bowl, submerge with boiling water until just covered, and then cover the bowl with a plate. The oats will steam while you have a few spare minutes to slice an apple or make a coffee. Perfect oats every time. Just set it and forget it.
The toppings
Add crunch and texture with a few key ingredients. For "special days" when I feel like I need a treat, I opt for Enjoy Life mini chips with Edward and Sons coconut flakes and frozen raspberries. This is my absolute favorite combination!
Add pumpkin seeds, coconut flakes, hemp seeds, maple syrup, or any frozen berry.
Cut apples into chunks and add them before the boiling water, then sprinkle a little cinnamon and brown sugar overtop.
Mix in sliced bananas and chopped strawberries with some hemp seeds and maple syrup.
Or what about sliced bananas with Enjoy Life mini chips, a scoop of Sunbutter, and some honey?
