My book features simple, everyday recipes made with common and familiar ingredients, that even the most beginner home cook can manage with ease. Recipes span all meals of the day, plus kitchen basics like simple white bread and chicken stock. I share some of my favorite dessert recipes, such as faux “peanut butter” cups, whipped coconut topping, and lemon blueberry cake, and easy snacks for when you need a quick bite.
All recipes are free from peanuts, nuts (excluding coconut), dairy, soy, egg, and shellfish. Many are free from wheat and fish, are suitable for vegans, or are gluten-free.
This is not just a collection of recipes. In Everyone’s Welcome, I provide a window into the allergic experience. From an anecdote about what it’s like to eat in a busy and trendy restaurant with colleagues, to how to plan for travel, to the empty feeling of allergy anxiety, to why I always have food on my person… this book is not just about meals, but about lifestyle.
Some of the practical resources included are a list identifying the top eight allergens and where they are commonly found, pantry staples, substitutions, how to accommodate food allergies in your kitchen, and viewing dietary restrictions with positivity.
This book is based on my own personal experiences and recipes, having lived with several anaphylactic food allergies since birth. I hope it inspires you to create bright and bountiful meals, and gets you excited about cooking!
