There’s enough stress around the holidays when it comes to hosting dinners, attending parties, and shopping for thoughtful gifts for all your friends and family. I personally enjoy baking earlier on in the season but find I have no time once Christmas actually rolls around. This year Brandon and I are hosting Christmas eve dinner, and we like to have a delicious brunch just the two of us on the 25th before heading out to the family festivities. This 4 ingredient sweet recipe is ideal for both of those occasions. Very little prep is required, it takes little time to bake (toss it in the oven after serving the main course), and they smell so fragrant and seasonal. Here’s how it’s done…
Ingredients
2 ripe bosc pears
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
Cut the pears in half and cut out the seed pod, leaving a little well in the center. Line a pan with parchment paper and heat the oven to 375F. Lay the pears flesh side up on the tray. Brush the maple syrup on evenly, letting it well up in the hole where the seeds used to be. Sprinkle the spices over evenly. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes, or until golden brown and softened (but still holding their shape).
Serve warm.
*Tip: Avoid using excess maple syrup as it will drip off the pears while cooking and burn on the tray.
