Sunbutter Iced Latte – Frothy Dairy Free, Nut Free Latte
This post was sponsored by Sunbutter Sunflower Seed Butter
This recipe makes the most incredibly creamy and smooth latte without any dairy, soy, or nut products. This is the power of Sunbutter’s rich and creamy texture, and earthy, delicious flavor.
Because sunflower seeds contain so much natural oil, blending them up adds richness and froth to any hot or cold drink if you blend it with a high-powered blender. The level of froth on this drink is amazing! Actually, it’s shocking how much froth it develops just from a quick 1 minute blend. There’s enough froth that you can scoop if off with a spoon. This is so unusual for dairy-free lattes made with alternative milks such as rice milk or oat milk, which may only froth under certain conditions or if using certain brands. The Sunbutter latte froths bountifully every time.
How to enjoy this drink:
You can prepare this drink hot or cold, poured or blended.
For a hot Sunbutter Latte, ensure your blender can handle hot liquids. Add the ingredients below, less the ice. Pour it straight into a mug as opposed to a glass.
For a blended iced Sunbutter Latte, crush the ice and room temperature or cold coffee together, then add the vanilla, Sunbutter, and sweetener (if desired), and pulse until it is a slushy consistency. Pour into a glass and enjoy cold.
Having a tasty and foolproof dairy free, nut free latte up your sleeve is so handy. This recipe is enjoyed by people who can eat nuts and dairy, and those who can’t, alike. The nutty taste of Sunbutter is a perfect match for a deep and delicious dark roast coffee.
Which brew should I use for my Sunbutter Iced Latte – Frothy Dairy Free, Nut Free Latte?
In my opinion, a dark roast coffee works best in this recipe because the intensity of flavor will stand up to the intensity of the Sunbutter flavor and balance each other out. When made with a weaker brew or a medium roast (or god forbid, a light roast), the flavor of the coffee did not stand out enough in my opinion and did not feel as harmonious. In regards to whether a light roast will work, see my earlier comment. But I do have a vendetta against light roast coffee as it always tastes like pure acid to me. If that’s your jam and then by all means, go right ahead.
