Listening To Your Body's Signals for Health
Diets really are not my thing. I believe instead in listening to what my body is telling me and changing my eating patterns based on how I feel. I don't know how much I weigh, and I can never remember my measurements. Possibly because there are so many things I can't eat; I really appreciate food. My body tells me when I've had too much sugar or carbs, not enough greens, or water, for example.
Today I woke up feeling horrible. I thought I was going to faint all morning. So much so that I even cancelled my restorative yoga class. Restorative. As in, sleeping in various positions in a dark room while someone speaks softly over serene music in the background.
So what was my body telling me today? It needed energy, hydration, and potassium (I always need a banana when I feel faint). So I made this healthy and delicious snack which I'm currently eating on the couch while watching the new season of Master of None. And no surprise, I'm starting to feel a lot brighter already.
Free from dairy, nuts, peanuts, soy, wheat, egg, fish and shellfish
Ingredients
1 avocado
1 banana
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp coconut oil
the juice of one mandarin orange
1 tbsp lemon juice
For the topping: one handful of Let's Do Organic coconut flakes
Method
Add it all at once to a blender and pulse until it's creamy and smooth. Spoon into a mug or bowl and chill for at least a half hour to set.
To toast the coconut flakes, put them in a dry pan and turn the heat up to medium-high. Let 'em roast until golden and then sprinkle all over the mousse.
