A Week of $pending: Mandy

Since my last cost of living article got so much love I've decided to dig a little deeper into how much I spend in a week and what I spend it on. There are some expenses that are specific to having food allergies, such as buying Epi Pens. Others are more grey area such as buying groceries every night so I can cook at home instead of eating in a restaurant or ordering takeout. If the grocery expenses seem a little high for one person that's because I live with my boyfriend, Brandon, so all our groceries are for two.

And then there are those costs that you hate to spend, like renewing one's passport (bleughhhh). But they kind of (hopefully?) get balanced out by walking to work (I'm lucky enough to live down the street from the office) and having my morning coffee at home. In the afternoons at work I have a cup of tea instead of getting Starbucks every day, a habit that was extremely difficult to kick. It has taken me about 8 months to finally stop going to Starbs every day, but now I just have it once a week at most and think of it as a treat.
