16 Things Only People With Food Allergy Will Understand
Let’s end 2019 on a comedic note with a bunch of GIFs, because we deserve it.
Here are 15 things that only people living with food allergy will understand…
1.When someone goes out of their way to buy or make you an allergen-free meal/dessert, but it’s still not safe for you
2. When someone shakes your hand and you realize that they were just eating nuts
3. When the grocery store puts out loose chestnuts in the middle of the produce aisle during the holiday season
4. When you meet another unicorn (allergy adult) in real life
5. When someone makes you an allergen free meal and it actually is safe for you
6. When you pull the packaging out of someone else’s trash bin at a party so that you can read the ingredients
7. When you’re home alone and a huge hive appears on your face
8. When someone says they’d “just die if they couldn’t eat ice cream”
9. When a stranger tells you that they heard about a treatment online/read a book/heard on Instagram about a cure that you should really look in to
10. When someone says they’re also allergic to dairy because it makes them bloated, so they’re “going dairy free… for the most part” and they totally get what it’s like
11. When someone shames you for not desiring to be vegan or eating things that they perceive as “unhealthy” (even though you already have an involuntarily restricted diet), or says that you’re “almost there” because you already don’t eat dairy
12. When you tell a waiter that you have a nut and dairy allergy, so they start telling you which items contain gluten
13. When you’re meeting a new group of people who don’t yet know about your food allergy
14. When your mom comes to take care of you after you’ve had a reaction, even a minor one
15. When your BFF comes to your defense after someone makes an ignorant comment about your food allergy
16. When someone says they “feel so bad for you” or that they “would just die” if they had food allergies.
