Sunbutter Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats - Dairy Free, Peanut and Nut Free, Soy Free, Egg Free, Gluten Free

My love for Sunbutter runs so deep. It was one of the first dedicated allergy friendly products in my life, and it continues to be a staple food in my family. The beautiful thing about Sunbutter is that you can eat it so many ways; on its own, in savory dishes, in baking, and in no-bake sweets like this recipe. It is available in different variations, like unsweetened, organic, crunchy, and original. Original and Crunchy Sunbutter are my favorite, but for this recipe I wanted to mix it up by using the unsweetened variety. Since this recipe already includes a hefty amount of marshmallow and chocolate chips, no additional sweetening was needed. Sunbutter has a nice salty quality too, and I love a balance of sweet and salty.
I will warn you that these treats are so addictive that you will likely end up eating the whole batch before anyone else gets a chance to try them. Because that’s what happened to me…..

1/4 tsp sea salt

How to make Sunbutter Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats - Dairy Free, Peanut and Nut Free, Soy Free, Egg Free, Gluten Free
Add the oil, marshmallows, and Sunbutter to a medium sized pot and begin to mix (using a spatula or a large spoon) over medium low heat. After several minutes, all of the ingredients will melt together.
Add the chocolate and stir until melted and streaky.
Fold in the rice krispies, a third at a time. Breaking it up into batches makes it easier to fold together.
Press the mixture into a non-stick cake pan or a lightly oiled/parchment lined baking dish and let set for a half hour.
Cut into squares and serve
Makes approximately 12 squares
